Prepping Your Home for Your Popcorn Removal
Your popcorn removal project is quickly approaching, and we bet you’re excited to give your home a brand new, modern look! If you’ve been keeping up on our blogs, you know that popcorn removal brings along even more benefits beyond the aesthetic upgrade. While your selected team has all the tools they need to complete your job quickly and efficiently, it’s a good idea to prepare your home ahead of time so you can help make headway.
The popcorn removal team at New Ceilings knows that popcorn dust gets everywhere – even the places you’d least expect. Here are 3 steps you can take to make sure your popcorn removal project is mess-free:
- If you can, remove all furniture from the room. The best way to keep your furniture protected is to move it as far away from the project site as possible. We know there are some instances when this isn’t possible, so if the furniture has to stay where it is, be sure you wrap it tightly in protective plastic sheets – popcorn dust can make its way in any little gap or opening!
- Take care of your lighting and ceiling fixtures. As your contractors will be working on the ceiling, you’ll want to make sure you take down any ceiling fans and other hardware up there. If you have recessed lights, you’ll want to cover them with cloth or wads of paper to protect them from the water spray.
- Cover your walls and floors and try to contain the mess. Keeping your project mess contained to one area isn’t difficult with the help of a great deal of plastic covering! If your room is carpeted, take extra care to cover them up, as the popcorn dust can work its way into the nap. You’ll also want to try and block dust from floating to other rooms, so block off your doorways.
Before you have your popcorn removal appointment, your selected team should be able to let you know what kind of preparatory procedures you need to take. After everything is done, they’ll be able to clean up and properly dispose of the old texture. To learn more or to schedule your free consultation, call New Ceilings at 407-378-6040 today.
