Should I find my Popcorn Removal Team on Amazon Home Services?
In a few of our previous blogs, we’ve discussed the benefits and the pitfalls of finding a home improvement contractor on some of the major home contractor review sites out there. Websites like Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor, and Thumbtack each have proprietary algorithms that help users find the right contractor for the job while boosting views for the companies that pay to play. But what about the newer or less publicized review sites? Are they worth checking out?
One that you may have come across while browsing the web is Amazon Home Services. A fairly recently added feature of the online retail juggernaut, home services allows consumers to shop for home improvement contractors much the way they would with other items. According to Home Services’ home page, all of their approved contractors are required to have liability insurance and proper state/national licensing for their services. But what else do they have to offer?
One feature of the service that seems very helpful is that it suggests contractors for you based on your recent shopping searches. For example, if you’ve recently been looking for a drywall repair patch kit or a new set of brushes for your walls, there’s a good chance it will recommend a few good drywall repair contractors or interior painters in your area. The only problem with that is that with a project that’s meant for the pros, like popcorn removal, there aren’t too many related searches to go on.
For the most part, the services you can select on Amazon Home Services are part of a prepackaged deal that the contractor lists with Amazon. This makes it easy to select a contractor to help you install a new appliance you purchased or to make room for a new installation. Amazon notes that it has a thorough background check protocol in place for each of its trusted contractors, so you can be sure that your home is safe – but you may not be getting the best service for your unique needs.
For more complicated jobs like popcorn removal in Orlando, the team at New Ceilings recommends sticking to trusted review sites like Angie’s List and Yelp to help find the right team for your job.
