Give Your Drywall a Little TLC This Spring
Spring cleaning season is officially upon us. Many people set aside some time between March and May to reorganize their homes and take care of tasks left unfinished. You may be surprised to find that this is one of our favorite yearly events, but with how busy we are throughout the year, organizing and tidying up can help reduce stress and make us more productive.
This spring, the Orlando drywall repair team at New Ceilings would like to recommend putting your walls on your spring cleaning list. Keeping your walls clean can help your room look fresh and help you see any potential issues as they arrive. Here are 3 simple tasks to check off:
- Wipe down your walls with a gentle detergent, such as white vinegar and dish soap diluted with water. A lot of times, you might be surprised how much residue you remove from the surface, from splashes, bumps, and the like. Pay special attention to high-traffic areas like the entryway and the bathrooms. Never use abrasive scrubbers on your walls!
- Check for any wall anchors and hangers that aren’t being used. Even small details like empty nails in the walls can make a room look sloppy or unfinished. Now is the time to assess all the empty hangers in your home. Since they’re already (hopefully) anchored properly, we recommend getting new art to hang, but if you’d rather leave the walls bare, check out this guide on removing your wall anchors properly.
- Protect your walls from the outside in. If you haven’t already cleaned your gutters, now’s the time to get it done. While you’re at it, check your roof and your exterior walls for cracks, chips, and any other damaged areas where water might find its way in. Performing this simple maintenance is enough to help prevent serious mold and water damage inside!
Paying a little extra attention to your walls this spring can help you make sure your family stays happy and healthy for the rest of the year. If you’ve found any damage while assessing your walls, get it taken care of right away. Call the Orlando drywall repair team at New Ceilings at 407-378-6040 to schedule your appointment.
